Our Focus

The passion starts with the Shenandoah Missions Family.  We consider them a part of our staff on international assignment and are involved with them through prayer, encouragement, and financial support.

Our desire is to be World Christians with World Vision.

Since 1975 the people of Shenandoah have given more than $20 million to world missions through the Faith Promise Offering.  This represents a great faith in a faithful God.  Each year at our Annual World Missions Conference, we are joined by missionary guests from all over the world.  They share with us how we are partnering with them in reaching the world for Christ. It is a time for renewed focus and commitment to our year-round emphasis on missions.

Not only do the people of Shenandoah give financially, they also give of their lives. Many Shenandoah members have served on the mission field for long and short-term assignments.

KNOWING about Missions

The first step in your personal participation in Shenandoah World Missions involves KNOWING the Biblical basis for world missions and how we are embracing the opportunity to get the Gospel to the ends of the earth.  Through weekly prayer updates, our monthly publication, “The Intercessor”, and our Annual World Missions Conference, you will learn how you can be personally, immediately, strategically, effectively, and measurably involved in world missions.

Goal #1 - KNOWING ... the Biblical basis of Shenandoah’s plan for, and your personal responsibility in world missions.

PRAYING for Missions

The work of effective intercessory prayer on behalf of the Shenandoah Missionary Family is the most vital component of our efforts to reach the unreached.  The work of world missions starts on our knees in diligent and fervent prayer.  Such praying goes beyond "God bless the missionaries."  The Intercessor prayer guide will enable you to pray more specifically and boldly for the Shenandoah World Missions Staff.

Goal #2 - PRAYING ... regularly for global evangelization and the Shenandoah missions staff.

GIVING to Missions

Missionary martyr Jim Elliott remarked "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose."  At Shenandoah, giving to world missions is not considered a personal sacrifice, but an eternal investment.  Over the years, the Shenandoah people have confidently trusted the Lord for His financial provision to do His work of world missions and the Lord has always faithfully provided through Shenandoah's Faith Promise Offering.

Goal #3 - GIVING ... thru Faith Promise Missions Offering.

GOING on Missions

The mission field is much closer than you think.  Many from Shenandoah have served around the world with short-term mission teams, encouragement visits and long-term missionary servants.  Shenandoah prepares, equips and trains young and old to fulfill the Biblical command to "Go!"

Goal #4 - GOING ...to your neighbors and being ready to go wherever God leads.

CARING about Missions

A key responsibility of our role as a sending church is CARING for our missionary staff. There are 4 key ways we care for our staff:

1. Prayer - Through prayer and praise updates in the monthly Intercessor prayer guide and our Annual World Missions Conference you will learn how you can be personally involved in praying.
2. Encouragement - We seek to encourage our staff through regular contacts and other means of support.
3. Hospitality - We desire to welcome our staff home from the field with open hearts and homes. A key way we can encourage our staff is through our friendship and fellowship.
4. Advocacy - We want to be our missionary staff's biggest cheerleaders and supporters. To do that we need to know as much as we can about their field of ministry, their challenges and their personal needs.

Join a Sending Team - Shenandoah Baptist Church members love their missionaries. We’re always looking for way to improve our tangible expressions of love and care, especially towards our “sent missionaries” – those sent out by Shenandoah Baptist Church.

Goal #5 - CARING ... the Biblical basis of Shenandoah’s plan for, and your personal responsibility in world missions.

World Christians with World Vision

The plan of our Lord Jesus was for every one of His followers to be personally involved in getting the Gospel to “all the world” (Mark 16:15).  The Bible mandates every believer to be personally involved in the worldwide task of reaching the ends of the earth.

World Christians with World Vision, is a theme that reflects the worldwide scope of the task we have undertaken as a church family in response to the worldwide vision God has given us.  Our worldwide responsibility and opportunity flow from the fact we serve a worldwide God who “so loved the world that He gave.”  The theme accents our personal responsibility to live as World Christians engaged in reaching the unreached with a world-changing message.

During our yearly World Missions Conference, Shenandoah’s Missions Staff bring us thrilling accounts of people who have been reached, churches that have been planted, Christian leaders who have been trained, and communities that have been transformed.  The successes of the past encourage and challenge each of us to become personally involved in the victories of the future.

May God encourage, equip, and enable you to live out your life as a World Christian with a World Vision.

GOALS:
